Welcome to my Blog!

Welcome!  My name is Susie Gaal and I am a St. Louis based children's photographer specializing in natural light.  This is the place to see sneak peeks of my recent sessions, updates, news and specials.  I will try and post regularly, but sometimes life gets in the way!  Check back from time to time and feel free to leave comments.  I always love to hear from you!

a few more

As promised, here are a few more favorites of J & D from the past few weeks.  Although its freezing again, I am so happy to see the sun reappear.  This weekend’s sessions will be indoors due to the frigid temps.  More to come from those soon.  Hope you all are staying warm!image2blogimage9blog

A chilly morning

I was so excited when the weather predicted temps in the 40’s.  Unfortunately that was not the case Sunday morning!  These 2 little men were such troopers!  We ended up having lots of fun and even spending some time in the heated bathroom.  You do what you gotta do!  Z is 5 and J just celebrated his 2nd birthday.  I’m so happy I got to capture their milestone regardless of the cold!!img_9915blogimg_1626bcblogimg_0040blog

I just had to include this one with J's monkey. I love kids with their loveys!

workshop

I’m having so much fun doing this amazing workshop right now.  I’ll be kinda wrapped up in it for the next couple weeks, so if I take a little longer than usual to get back to you I’m SO sorry!  I will be back soon with even more inspiration and creativity because of it.   Here’s a self portrait (definitely a challenge for me since I’m ALWAYS behind the camera) that was from one of my first assignments.  Thanks for your patience! sp2blog

Gift

Newborns are such a gift…this one arrived a little early on Christmas Eve.  He is just precious!  And so are his big sister and brother.  They are so sweet and gentle with their baby brother and to each other.  I know 3 can be tough, but the morning I was there they were absolute angels.  I will cross my fingers that it stays that way!!  Thanks for a great session.img_0431blogimg_0562blogimg_0497blogimg_0659blog

Happy New Year!!

This is my first session in 2010 and what a great way to start the new year!  I’m feeling rested and revived and excited about all that 2010 will bring.  Baby A is 6 weeks old, but he was 6 weeks early so he’s still a newbie.  He was a super-model!  I loved every minute of this session.  Thanks for letting me in your home S family!  I look forward to documenting all his milestones.img_0239blogimg_0327blog

wrapping up

Literally & figuratively!  This was my last session of 2009.  And a GREAT one to end on.  I love this family and am so happy to get to capture O’s 1 year pictures.  And we even got a few of big brother J too.  Thanks for helping make 2009 a great year!!  img_0072blogimg_0194blogimg_0054blogimg_0128blog

almost one

I’ve been taking some time off after the crazy holiday rush to catch up on orders and enjoy some family time.  While its been really nice, I was excited to get out my camera and capture A for his 1 year milestone.  Well almost 1, his birthday is in a little over a week.  It was a little chilly so we split this session indoors and out.  He is so cute and full of energy.  And boy does he LOVE his grandpa.  I love his expression in the ones where grandpa was nearby.img_9842blogimg_9912blogimg_9914blog

SEEN 2009!!

The opening night gala for SEEN 2009 was last night.  What a great night!  I placed 2nd in two categories this year (children, babies).  I feel honored to be part of such a great show.  Thanks so much for all your support!  And a special thank you to the Lankheit and Oster families for letting me photograph your beautiful children. lukeblogwindowtotheworldblogI’m also excited to be in the SEEN 2009 book.  The book includes all the finalist images as well as a few images that were not in the show hand picked by the studio owner.  Although these 2 images were not chosen as finalists, they made it in the book!eskimokissblogstlouisflareblog
